Trimble Unity Construct Business Intelligence (BI) Reports and Dashboards (Exago) - End of Maintenance
Starting October 1, 2023, we are moving the underlying technology we use to power Trimble Unity Construct’s Business Intelligence (BI) Reports and Dashboards module into the End of Maintenance phase.
The third party tool (Exago) that powers the Trimble Unity Construct Business Intelligence (BI) module has been acquired by another company and the tool is no longer under active development. As a result, the Trimble team is unable to implement any further updates to BI reporting in the Trimble Unity Construct Enterprise solution and we need to move it to the end-of-maintenance phase.
The Trimble Unity Construct Exago BI Reports and Dashboards entered the following Product Lifecycle Phases:
Feature | Lifecycle Phase | Effective Date |
---|---|---|
BI module powered by Exago | October 2023 |
We are pleased to announce that we have selected a replacement BI tool with more modern and advanced data preparation, interactive dashboards, reporting, and visual data analytics capabilities. Additional details will be announced as they become available.
Impact
The easiest way to understand the implications of the BI End of Maintenance is to break down the functionality into two main categories, BI Reports and BI Dashboards:
- BI Reports powered by Exago are currently stable, but contain exporting defects that are not resolvable.
- BI Dashboards powered by Exago contain defects and performance problems that are not resolvable.
We currently do not have plans to remove BI Reports or Dashboards from the Trimble Unity Construct solution. This functionality is provided in “as-is” condition and no defects will be addressed.
Details
BI Reports may operate adequately for limited data sets and tabular presentation to meet some Clients’ needs. Since this feature is dependent on Exago, which is ultimately outside of Trimble Unity Construct’s control, we will at some point encounter technical and/or environmental issues that will eliminate our ability to maintain Exago.
- We have no plans to restrict access to your existing BI reports.
- We have no plans to limit your ability to execute and create new BI reports.
- We have no plans to limit your reporting data.
BI Dashboards may operate adequately for limited data sets and simplified presentation to meet some Clients’ needs. Trimble cannot provide any assistance on troubleshooting BI Dashboards, and will not be addressing any technical issues with this feature.
- We have no plans to restrict access to your existing BI Dashboards.
- We have no plans to limit your ability to execute and create new BI Dashboards.
- We have no plans to limit your reporting data.
Alternatives
The following alternatives are available:
- Customers can use the Trimble Unity Construct Standard Reports and Dashboards.
- Customers who have purchased the Trimble Unity Construct Data Warehouse can use it to meet their dashboard requirements with a third party BI tool like Power BI, Tableau or Looker.
- Customers can also use the REST API at https://developer.e-builder.net/ to extract Trimble Unity Construct data for external reporting, though there is a limit on the number of API calls which may impact using the API as an alternative.
